The question of what is the best time to perform your bodybuilding workouts is a very common question that unfortunately gets answered in a different way, depending of who you ask.  In this blog I want to give you some specific guidelines so that you can determine what is the best time to workout for you.

In a nutshell:

The Best Time to Workout = The Most Convenient Time for You.

While this may sound overly simplistic, this is a practical and true statement.  No need to over-complicate matters.

10 Minutes to Abs

While you may have been lead to believe that you need to do thousands of sit-ups each day in order to get your abs, I am here to tell you that this is not the case.  And if you believe that abs are the hardest muscle to develop, then I have great news for you: that is a myth as well!

Remember that getting abs is a two step process:

First, burn off enough body fat via diet and cardiovascular exercise.  Once you reach 10% body fat if you are a guy or 12% if you are a female, then you will be able to see your abs.

Second, train the abs with direct abdominal exercises in order to harden up your muscles.  In that manner, once the abdominal fat is burned off, you will have a tight looking midsection to display.

With that said, there is no need to spend hours each day just training the abs.  Ten minutes a day three times a week will suffice.

Creatine Basics

Even though creatine is not a new supplement there is still a lot of confusion about it.  Some people think that it is a steroid while others are misinformed about what it actually does.

In reality, creatine is a metabolite composed of 3 amino acids: arginine, methionine and glycine.

Creatine works by extending the ATP cycle in the body. ATP is the molecule that fuels muscular contractions. More ATP in the body means that you can do more repetitions at any given weight, which means that you can then stimulate more muscle growth.

In addition, creatine increases intra cellular water retention. By increasing the water inside the muscle cell (as opposed to outside) you get a bigger and leaner looking muscle.
